I actually did not mention Drug Replacement Therapies specifically because fellowships like Narcotics Anonymous and other drug specific fellowships (I don’t believe AA has a stance one way or another) actually do not consider people clean or actively recovering until they are off those kind of medications. They believe recovery doesn’t begin until you are off ANY mind- and mood-altering substances, and they include DRT under that heading. I personally think they are valuable for getting people off a specific substance, but I do believe that they should not be part a long-term recovery plan.
