Money is such a funny thing, but when we're hiding it, it can set off so much. I struggled believing the man who became my second husband about his money situation. He'd told me how much money he made, but he would use the same razor blade for months and squeeze every bit out of the toothpaste before moaning that he'd have to buy more. He slept on a mattress some family member had given him that was horribly uncomfortable. He was living like he was making minimum wage, but was making well above that. But he hadn't had good representation during his divorce and his ex-wife had cleaned him out, and he was terrified about ever being there again, so he was the definition of cheap.
